Let the Healing Begin

Roller Skating Today (RST) lends its voice and support to assist in the campaign to prevent CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE, a social ill which negatively impacts - and in some cases, destroys – the lives of countless children in America (and around the world).  These children then grow up scarred and in a life-long struggle to overcome the effects.

Perpetrators of CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE are rarely prosecuted, let alone identified since, many times, they are persons in positions of authority and trust in a child's life.  Abusers become skilled at manipulation and use of threats which often are enough to SILENCE a confused child who, in turn, learns to keep the “secret” bottled up inside.  At some point, however, the bottle will break – even if decades later  - and for peace of mind, many survivors of CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE have to let it out and BREAK THE SILENCE.

RST's founder Adeeba Folami, a survivor of abuse herself, is moved to make this issue Roller Skating Today's adopted advocacy cause due to the lack of focus given to how this issue is affecting Black children, adults and families.  (Read Adeeba's  article “SEXUAL ABUSE – It's time to break the silence,” found on RST's sister site The Black House.)
