Elected Officials at Odds Over City-Owned Rink (Dallas City Hall)
….It surprises some people that the city of Dallas owns and operates a skating rink, partly, I suppose, because it hasn’t been 1981 for a long, long time. But Southern Skates on 2939 East Ledbetter Drive is indeed a city property, built in 1998 by a non-profit that defaulted on city loans. Because it costs quite a bit to maintain, the rink becomes a source of some contention at City Hall from time to time….
Is there a collaboration of skaters in Dallas who love skating that would be able to make a viable offer to purchase and/or come in and manage this rink?
